4 reasons cleaning should be a combined effort.

Cleaning. Absolutely no one likes it. Well, you might find a few people here and there that are fans of cleaning, but in reality it takes a lot of time, and it can be the last thing you feel like doing after a long day at work. One of the biggest grudges about cleaning is that it seems to be one persons responsibility more so than the others. You need to make it a combined effort, and here is why.

1. It reinforces your "Go-TEAM" attitude.

Cleaning together symbolises more than just your willingness to live in a clean house, it demonstrates you are a team player and you are willing to support your partner. When it is pushed to one person as a responsibility, the person who bears that responsibility can resent the other person for making them feel like it is entirely theirs to do. Doing it together goes double as quick and shows you care.

2. It keeps the mind ticking over.

Very rarely do you question your way of doing things, and in fact, most of the time you fall in to bad patterns of behaviour. Cleaning makes you question if doing things the way you are is the most time effective and efficient approach. Think of it like a puzzle, each time you do it you see the problem differently. That's good for the brain.

3. Cleaning makes problems seem trivial.

Cleaning is a good time to reflect, it also is a good opportunity to analyse what is going on in your life and put things in to perspective. Cleaning is quite a primitive task, so if you look at it as an opportunity for down time, you can learn to enjoy it. Cleaning will also ensure that you don't take things too seriously.

4. It refreshes everything and everyone.

Doing your cleaning together is a good way to ensure you are all going through the same thing and you are all energised. Cleaning is a good way to ensure that you are all on the same page, and understand the work involved in keeping a home clean. By the end of it, you all can sympathise with the work contributed, and know what it takes to look after the place.

At the end of the day, the most important thing with cleaning is that it is a team effort. No one likes to feel that chores fall solely as their responsibility, so pitching in and just giving your partner or room mate a hand can go a long way to building up respect and preventing resentment inside your home.

When you get home today, look your partner in the eyes, pick up the duster, and lead the way in getting the cleaning done together. It will go quicker than you think, and build up some good camaraderie.
