Dulux’s colour trend predictions for 2018

From tropical brights to pared back soft neutrals, Dulux has predicted the four hottest colour palettes we’ll be seeing much more of in 2018.

The broad collection of fashion-forward hues was globally inspired with colours drawn from nature paired with zesty shades that hint at exotic adventures.

Dulux Colour Expert, Andrea Lucena-Orr suggests ‘natural, earthy colours and textures will be coming to the fore’ and ‘we’ll also see an inspiring travel palette…filled with palm prints, happiness and visual delights’.

If you’re looking to makeover your home it can’t hurt to get ahead of the curve and embrace a selection of gorgeous paint colour combinations that everyone will be using at home come 2018.

Essential

Taking its cues from minimalist thinking this colour palette heroes uncomplicated design and is comprised of mainly muted tones. Create a peaceful setting with warm shades of leather, soft putty, neutral pinks and cool grey-green. Add a dash of drama with blue highlights.

Of the four colour themes, Andrea foresees that the Essential palette ‘will dominate as home enthusiasts will appreciate how easily these colours can transform and update a space’.

Changing one or more colours in your home is a great way to refresh your space and keep your décor up to date.

Andrea says, ‘colour is a wonderful way to express our personal tastes and passions’.

‘The key to making these new hues work in your home’, she says, ‘is to understand the look and feel you’re hoping to create. Establishing this will give you more confidence balancing the deeper and brighter colours with the more muted shades’.

Happy painting!
