Homely.com.au's street, suburb and agent ratings connect Australian home buyers with agents like never before.
New platform helps agents to engage with consumers, provide answers, and build long term relationships.
February 28, 2014 - Homely.com.au’s focus on user and agent reviews are transforming the way that people search for property. According to Homely’s National Sales Director, Rocky Bartolotto, “Reviews have always been a factor when people search for homes. Offering collaborated reviews on neighbourhoods and locations provides an invaluable resource to consumers.”
For buyers searching for their perfect property, the Homely.com.au platform provides a comfort zone that no other property portal offers. The Homely database is currently reaching over 300,000 people a month and providing invaluable insights from all of the parties involved in property transactions; with agents, buyers, sellers and locals all providing input on what it’s really like to live in a specific area.
“Buyers have said to me at auctions that they checked out the street on Homely.com.au to see if there had been a review and where available gave them great insights into the neighbourhood and the people who lived there. This helped them understand the area better before attending the property inspection,” said Bartolotto.
Additionally, with agents looking to engage with consumers, Bartolotto said that spending time on the site to read people’s reviews and comments offered a tremendous opportunity for him to share his local knowledge.
“When agents get alerts about the suburbs they have subscribed to, they find very valuable questions on Homely that are of interest to a large number of people. The fact that agents can now answer questions and be a point of contact for inquiries really adds value to the houses they are trying to sell.” Bartolotto said that feedback from agents on the new Homely platform was promising, with agents commenting on the sites ability to be able to communicate regularly and develop engaging conversations, ultimately leading to new client relationships.
“I often hear consumers ask agents at auctions what are the best schools in the area, this is valuable information to any prospective family looking to buy a home and an agent can now demonstrate their local knowledge and add value. Leaving this kind of neighbourhood information and comments on the Homely site in return gives the agent an online local expert profile.”
Bartolotto is confident that agents will notice a difference through their inspections after interacting with consumers and discussing livability factors on the site. “Homely has started to capture prospects’ imagination, whilst as an agent, it has allowed me to continue the conversation in an online platform that everyone can participate in.”
“Taking a question from a member of the public online is invaluable, not only because I can share my opinion as a local expert, but because people who live in the same street and who could one day be your neighbour, can tell you what they like and don’t like. This is providing better feedback than you could ever previously imagine. It also means the conversation doesn’t end after the inspection, but instead establishes a relationship to help that person find their dream home in their search.”
“Agents are aware that consumers are not always in the prime position to buy today, they may be a month, two or even six months from making a purchase. By being engaged on the Homely site over time, you can discuss areas that prospects are interested in, providing expertise on streets and neighbourhoods that buyers are considering. In the long run, you demonstrate that you are truly trying to find the right home for each individual”
After a Beta launch in late December, in just over two months there are now more than 2000 agents using the site, with agent interest growing rapidly. The main benefit agents have mentioned has been the site’s ability to build better relationships with people through an online property portal and of course the ability to list for free. “When you build relationships early on with consumers you demonstrate you are there to assist them for the long haul. It makes you more credible as an agent for when you finally meet face to face, and prevents you from appearing as yet just another agent”
